Finally caught some natural light to shoot some photos of a Blythe kimono I completed a couple of weeks ago! Having Aoi Robin (Almond Doll custom) model this Turquoise Hana-temari Furisode ensemble. Actually, this kimono was the first one I started on in 2020 (wip here on IG), but didn't get round to matching it up, and completing the ensemble until mid-March....
The main kimono was made using kimono hagire fabric I found at Osaka Kuromon last October on our BFF trip (here). The fabric has a lovely sheen, with a sayagata pattern in its weave, and with colourful motifs of flowers, braided cords and temari balls. For the obi, I used this pretty pink brocade that I found at Kyoto's Nomura Tailor during

Paired the kimono with 2 hair accessories (kanzashi), made with the same fabric as the main kimono and the obi. The 1st one made is fan-shaped, with cotton lace and small florals in chirimen fabric, in colours that mirror/echo those of the kimono's motifs.
Two kanzashi to match (more on IG). |
The 2nd one is a simple ribbon in the same pink brocade as the obi. Kept it simple, for a simpler look if worn by itself, or if worn together with the turquoise fan-shaped one, it wouldn't be all too much.

Not sure if I should have made the ribbon kanzashi a little smaller and flatter though.... It would probably look better pinned upright, so guess I'll have to try another hairstyle, like a bun on top of her head...but Aoi's hair is on the flat and straight side, so gotta find a way to give it volume.
