Tulip Sleeve Shirt in nani IRO "Lei nani - For beautiful corolla - water silhouette" (nani IRO 2016)

Tulip sleeve shirt with round collar in nani IRO "Lei nani - For beautiful corolla - water silhouette" linen from the nani IRO 2016 season (on IG).

Finished another linen shirt with nani IRO linen sometime late last year. The pattern is a Franken pattern. The shirt body and collar are from the Kayaki Machiko french sleeve shirt previously used (here). Used another Kayaki Machiko shirt pattern to modify the armhole area, and to add darts. The tulip sleeve pattern was modified from a normal inset sleeve pattern, with the help of online tutorials by Professor Pincushion, Sewing Rabbit, and Sew Chic Pattern Co.

Didn't make a toile. I confess I was too lazy to. Am lucky that this shirt style is quite forgiving!

Used Liberty Tana lawn "Milky Way" for the collar's facing (on IG).

Had enough "Milky Way" Liberty Tana lawn leftover from my niece's smocked dress (posted here) to use for the shirt's bias facing. Used that as the trim for the collar instead. Thought it added a pretty, little secret.

Overall pretty happy with how it hangs! I love that nani IRO linen is lightweight and the weave is loose and airy, making the fabric perfect for our tropical climate.

Initially was not able to wear the shirt out because the linen was a little sheer in the daylight. Not so obvious under artificial lighting, but enough for my mental modesty police sound the alarm. However, I've since found a nice knit camisole during a MANGO sale that is a perfect solution!
