[Back Post] Japan with Peko-chan 2017 #9/9 - Kobe ~wip~

(This post is a currently a work-in-progress, and will be completed at a later date, when I am able to.)

Kobe Luminarie 2017.

Our final stop in the November 2017 trip was Kobe City (神戸), which was a short and easy drive from Awajishima (Part 8). It was a little odd to be visiting again, just when we were here recently in May (posted here). But we were back for a reason: the amazing KOBE LUMINARIE!

We also visited the Port of Kobe Earthquake Memorial (below), to round-up our visit to the Hokudan Earthquake Museum in Awajishima (to be posted in Part 8). We also explored the Kitano ijinkan, Kobe's foreign settlement area (below), partly in conjunction with my exploration of the Nagasaki foreign settlement area during this trip (in Nagasaki Part I).

Will post more on this part of the journey later~~! But in the meantime, here's some pictures we took of the awesome illuminations (below), and the other sights.

Kobe Luminarie 2017, Nakamachi. There were so many lights that my digital camera and iPhone camera couldn't register.

Higashi Yuenchi, Kobe Luminarie 2017

The largest installation was at the Higashi Yuenchi (東遊園地). The Kobe Luminarie (神戸ルミナリエ) has got to be one of the best winter illuminations in all Japan! This year's theme was「未来への眼差し(Guardando al futuro)」which means "Looking at/to the future".

Moegi House, Kitano Ijinkan, Kobe. Frankly, probably my favourite house in the whole area. The name literally means "sprout", and is probably in reference to its colour.
Kitano Tenman Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to Tenjin within Kitano Ijinkan, Kobe.

The Dutch House (Former Wolhin House), Kitano Ijinkan, Kobe.
Former Sassoon House, Kitano Ijinkan, Kobe.
Former Italian House, Kitano Ijinkan, Kobe.
Uroko no Ie, Kitano Ijinkan, Kobe.
Antique porcelain on display at the Uroko no Ie, Kitano Ijinkan, Kobe.

My favourite room in Uroko no Ie would be the one with all the antique porcelain on display - Meissen, Wedgewood, Royal Copenhagen Flora Danica... Although not exactly the same time period, they remind me of our visit to Dejima and the porcelain exhibition we saw there (Nagasaki Part I).

Great view of Kobe from the top floor of the Uroko no Ie, Kobe Kitano Ijinkan.

This is not the end, as I'll revisit this post and add more!
